Coach's Comments
Michael is a very speedy, technical, and dangerous winger. He got on the ball often, was positive in his movement, and scored a few goals on the day. I enjoyed watching his 1 v 1 battles and his aggressiveness to go forward with the ball.
Tactical tip - Michael did really well during the camp but my tactical tip for him would be to focus on where to be on the field to touch the ball more often. His spacing from defenders made it so that he got himself into some trouble when he received the ball. Scan the field before you receive and that way you already know what’s around you so that you can be even more dangerous with the ball.
Physical tip - College soccer has players that range in age from 18-23 (sometimes even older). in order for Michael to do well against players that will be bigger/faster, I want him to become stronger. Leg strength to protect the ball and core/back/shoulder strength to protect himself.
Technical tip - Michael had quite a few clear goal chances during the camp and it gave me an idea that he is great at finding those opportunities. I would suggest working on finishing so that his shot to goal ratio increases to the 1/3 instead of 1/5-1/7 range. Creating those chances are the hardest part, so this should be an easy fix.
