Coach's Comments
Maria was a joy to have in camp and her strong work rate inspired the rest of the group to elevate their play. She has a tremendous work rate and has the fitness level to keep going even after multiple sets. She still has room for growth, however, with her work rate and desire, improvement will come rapidly.
Playing with your feet - As you look to move on to the next level, you will need to be able to use both feet and play the ball with accuracy over distance. Additionally, the ability to use multiple surfaces is a bonus to have.
Vision and field awareness - You do well to lift your head and consider your options. You distance off of your endline when the ball is at the other end is a strength. Try to improve your recovery rate as the ball moves towards your goal and when you are receiving a back pass. There were moments when 3 or 4 more steps would have afforded you much more time to evaluate your options.
Strength when making saves - You do very well to push and get to the ball when shot-stopping. Can you work to improve your hands, so that when making contact with the ball, you are able to push it further or keep it in front of you? Balls that are deflected and result in a corner kick allow your opponent an opportunity to create a dangerous chance on goal. At the college level, teams will spend hours perfecting their dead-ball situations. You always want to mitigate your opponent's chances to take advantage of this.
