Coach's Comments
Jacqueline brought great energy and was really fun to work with at camp! I thought she showed a great deal of resiliency in the training sessions and seemed to consistently strive to implement coaching points. During the full sided games she displayed a good level of awareness when it came to in possession decision making. As a 2025 grad she is in a good spot to aspire to play at the next level!
Drive your back hand and top shoulder with low dives - The footwork leading into a low dive is super important but something specifically for you to focus on because of your height. When trying to be as clean and efficient as possible when covering lower shot stopping opportunities you need to continue to focus on what your back hand and shoulder look like in your diving shape. If you are diving to your right side your pinkie finger on your right hand should be parallel with the ground, the shooter should see the entire palm of your glove and your elbow can be bent at 90 degrees when beginning to orient towards the ball. Your left shoulder (top shoulder) should help you drive the rest of your body and core through the ball so it, ideally, you should shoot and drive your left hand through the path of the ball will meet your right hand. Cleaning up some of these technical aspects will help with the overall efficiency of your shot stopping ability!
Use a range of tone with your communication - You have a good base and understanding when it comes to communication and reading the game. My challenge for you is how can you use your leadership platform to drive and empower your teammates? There will be moments where you need to deliver quick, clear, and direct communication but rotating in some moments where you provide a calmness or fire for your teammates will be important when developing your presence as a goalkeeper! Staying connected to your backline will aid in your physical and vocal presence as a goalkeeper.
Work on your balance and agility within your movement - We spoke about this in your eval but focusing specifically on the efficiency and balance within your movement will be super important moving forward. This movement relates to shot stopping, breakaway, crossing, back to bar, and out of possession positioning scenarios.
